Namib desert meet the Atlantic ocean at Sandwich Harbour

The Sandwich Harbour is part of the Namib Naukluft Park, situated approximately 50km South of Walvis Bay, with giant sand dunes that run straight into the ocean, creating breath-taking sceneries and a unique off road driving experience.

There are various stories as to where the name Sandwich Harbour originated from. Some say it was due to the effect by the sea and the dunes on the small fresh water source, others say it was named after the English Whaler 'The Sandwich' whose Captain drew the first reliable map of the area.
