The head of the family with his little son greets me on the threshold of his ger, after having hosted me together with his family. We are in central Mongolia, an area of endless green grasslands.

The gers represent the only housing option. Of course there is no electricity; you can see the solar panel that powers the ger. This family owns many heads of cattle (a fence can be seen nearby), so they can also afford a television. At night the temperature drops; the chimney of the wood stove comes out of the roof. The child is enjoying the lollipop I gave him. So much serenity and peace.

Il capofamiglia con il figlio piccolo mi saluta sulla soglia della sua ger, dopo avermi ospitato insieme alla sua famiglia. Siamo nella Mongolia centrale, zona delle verdi praterie infinite.

Le ger rappresentano l'unica possibilità abitativa. Logicamente non c'è corrente elettrica; si nota il pannello solare che alimenta la ger. Questa famiglia possiede molti capi di bestiame (un recinto si vede poco distante), quindi può permettersi anche la televisione. Di notte la temperatura scende; la canna fumaria della stufa a legna esce dal tetto. Il bambino si sta gustando il lecca-lecca che gli ho regalato. Tanta serenità e pace.
